PROJECT SYNOPSIS

See What I’m Saying tracks the impact of pianist Henry Butler’s music and musical philosophy on a group of blind and visually impaired teens who gather in New Orleans one summer to train with Butler at his week long Creative Music and Jazz camp.

Hour long documentary follows both master and student as they use music to navigate obstacles during the camp and in the challenging years after.

Broadcast film to be paired with national outreach campaign to raise awareness about its core issues: music/arts education, disability rights, Katrina relief and preservation of New Orleans musical heritage.
